Application Analyst I

Job Description:

As Business Analyst I, you will work in our innovative professional services teams that provide analytical solutions to complement our business performance management product. You will work with account managers, business architects, customers, other business analysts and IT architects to evaluate, document and specify customer needs and translate them into product, application, technical and operational requirements. The majority of effort will be performing application mock-ups, application and screen flow design and communicating these requirements to the engineering team, under the direction of the business architects and senior analysts. This is a junior level position.

Responsibilities:

• Design/Reuse Application User Interface patterns and creating application mockups.
• Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
• Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: (Functional requirements (Business Requirements Document), Use Cases, Graphical User Interface, Screen and Interface designs).
• Work with Product Management, Engineering and Marketing to reuse and extend current product usability and usability patterns. Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
• Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.
• Serve as a conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow.
• Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language.

Qualifications:

Required

• Application and systems mock-up, including some level of graphical design
• Strong team work, communications and inter-personal skills
• Experience working to strict deadlines and budgets
• Experience in defining and documenting high-level and detail requirements for business and IT systems/solutions
• BS/BA with a Human Factors emphasis or coursework, and/or Business Information Systems

Familiarity with following standards/tools/technologies

• Business requirements documentation – such as Visio, MS Office (Word, Excel, Power point)
• Understanding of Graphical User Interface design and capture standards
