The Technology behind cloudMatrix™
To deliver cloud brokerage services, a vastly new and innovative technology platform is required. Gravitant has spent five years on developing these technology components based on a Java/JEE stack with open standards. In addition, Gravitant is the only company that has invested in operations research techniques applied to develop advanced simulation and optimization mathematical models for IT planning, sourcing, and governance. These techniques have been incorporated in many technological engines described here.

Cloud Decision & Governance Engines
Simulate and optimize trade-offs between business demand, resource capacity, utilization/performance, and IT sourcing policies. These engines enable the analysis of impacts to cost, risk, QoS, SLAs, and application architecture for business services and applications. Based on these analysis, IT organizations can make decisions on the right provider to use, on the optimal capacity to deploy, and on the policies for automated scaling of capacity based on business demand. Then, IT organizations can govern the operations and compliance of these decisions through on-going tracking and analysis against a defined plan.
Cloud Services Catalog
Manage a comprehensive model of public/private cloud services supply and enterprise's business services demand. Gravitant works with many service providers to model their individual cloud services and purchase-able line items with pricing and packaging structures. IT Organizations can then define their business services and model demand for cloud services based on available services in the catalog from many providers. IT organizations can also define a custom catalog of preferred suppliers to help manage their sourcing policies and setup a private marketplace.
Cloud Performance Data Mart
Automatically aggregate and correlate metrics for demand, capacity, utilization, performance, cost, and risk for multiple application architecture and cloud resources across many environments and virtual data centers. This data mart enables near real-time visibility into resource performance along with audit data to manage governance of resource changes. Using an industry standard performance data model, the system can scale to support thousands of resources with years of historical data and deliver instant reporting.
Application Architecture Manager
Define application architecture blueprints using virtual appliances (templates) and associated resource capacity models to automate system construction, deployment, configuration and maintenance across physical, virtual and cloud environments. Also, the Architecture Manager enables a first of its kind orchestration and transaction-based automated provisioning of cloud resource changes.
Cloud Architecture Engines
Provides a common set of architecture services to intelligently scale, monitor, and secure applications running across multiple cloud environments and internal data centers. These engines provide the foundation, logic, and integrations to enable automated resource provisioning, performance management, orchestration and workflow, policy models, and security controls.
Global Cloud Resource Pool & Cloud Service Providers
Create, Manage and Control Virtual Data Centers by provisioning resources from multiple external providers, private clouds and internal data centers. All resources are inventoried globally across providers and manageable through a single unified interface. Cloud Service Providers are integrated into the platform through common interfaces for Virtual Data Center Connectors and Cloud Managed Services Connectors.
